JACK FIRE 59 PERCENT CONTAINED, 21,881 ACRES

The Jack Fire, burning on the Umpqua National Forest east of Glide, is 59 percent contained, and is at 21,881 acres.

An update from Northwest Incident Management Team 10 said that 651 people are working at the fire.

North of Highway 138E, firefighters continue to mop up and patrol to maintain fire activity within control lines.

Crews south of Highway 138E, along the east and west flanks, continue to secure control lines by patrolling and mop up. Preparation work is resuming on the 4770 Road along the east as a contingency plan. On the south end of the fire, firefighters are treating green fuels with water systems. The update said with cooler weather forecasted in the fire area over the next few days and as conditions allow, burn operations along the southeast flank will be conducted to remove heavy fuels. Smoke may be visible in that area.

Firefighters are continuing to patrol the Dry Creek area and Horseshoe Bend Campground.

All aircraft, including drones, are prohibited from flying over the Jack Fire. A Temporary Flight Restriction remains in place to protect aircraft that are involved in the firefighting operation.
