Holiday travelers will likely see little or no delay along Oregon 138E during the Independence Day weekend.

Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation said wildfire recovery efforts have caused frequent delays this spring and summer along the North Umpqua Highway, which connects Roseburg and Interstate Five with Diamond Lake.

Latham said all lanes are likely to remain open this weekend. He said ODOT has suspended work through sunrise on Tuesday. Latham said the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management will also stay off the highway throughout the weekend.

Latham said while it is possible that other agencies or private parties may work during the weekend, any related traffic impacts are likely to be minimal.

For the rest of July, ODOT crews and contractors will work daylight hours, Mondays through Saturdays in the Archie Creek Fire area and in the Thielsen Fire area. Latham said since work will take place in several areas, motorists should expect frequent and lengthy delays.
