EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH STARTS FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN WESTERN OREGON

June 23, 2021 5:50 a.m.

An Excessive Heat Watch is in effective for much of western Oregon beginning on Friday afternoon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110 degrees are possible west of the Cascades and up to 100 degrees east of the Cascades. Low temperatures will be as high as 75 degrees.

Forecasters said the extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. The high daytime temperatures combined with warm overnight lows will result in high heat risk and heat related stress. Daily high temperature records will likely be broken. Forecasters said there is a chance to break the all time June high temperature record.

The Excessive Heat Watch will remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon in southern Oregon and through Monday evening in parts of northern Oregon.
