WOMAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT

A 28-year old woman was jailed following an alleged assault on Tuesday afternoon.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 2:15 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to an alleged physical disturbance between two women in the 300 block of North Main in Canyonville. The report said one of the women allegedly took the other woman’s purse. It was determined that Mariah Davies had taken the victim’s purse out of her vehicle. The victim along with other people contacted Davies in the bathroom of a business.

The report said Davies then hit the victim. The victim got her purse back and was verbally arguing with Davies. Numerous people allegedly witnessed the incident.

Davies was ultimately arrested. She was charged with fourth-degree assault, second-degree counts of theft and disorderly conduct, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and for a warrant. Bail was set at $28,500.
