BLM SEEKS INPUT ON LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT

May 24, 2021 3:20 a.m.

Staff with the Bureau of Land Management, Roseburg District, is seeking public input on a plan to maintain and enhance habitat diversity within Late-Successional and Riparian Reserves throughout the South River Field Office.

Cheyne Rossbach said the input is critical to the planning process and to determining the scope of the issues to be addressed in the environmental assessment.

Rossbach said Late-Successional Reserves and Riparian Reserves are allocated to the conservation and recovery of threatened and endangered species and provide clean water in watersheds.

A release said the BLM is considering a combination of silvicultural and other vegetation management treatments, fire and fuels management activities and restoration activities. The BLM has initiated public scoping, a process where the agency solicits internal and external input on the issues, impacts, and potential alternatives that will be addressed in the Late-Successional Reserve Landscape Management Plan Environmental Assessment.

Rossbach said the public scoping period will remain open until June 11th. A public meeting will be held on June 9th at 6:00 p.m. to provide further information about the proposed activities. Register in advance for the meeting at:
