MAN JAILED AFTER HARASSMENT INCIDENT

A Roseburg man was jailed after a harassment incident on Monday night.
A report from Roseburg Police said at 6:00 p.m. the 59-year old man allegedly walked up to a man near the intersection of Southeast Cass and Southeast Rose. The report said the suspect reportedly began calling the victim racial names, due to the victim’s race. The suspect allegedly spit on the side of the victim’s face while continuing to insult him with racial profanity.
The report said the victim has numerous health issues and uses a walker to help him get around, so was unable to defend himself. Multiple citizens witnessed the event according to the report. One of the witnesses tried to intervene and was pushed to the ground by the suspect.
The man was held for second degree counts of intimidation and disorderly conduct as well as for a harassment charge.
The suspect was released from custody on Tuesday.
