Monday morning Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued a new Executive Order telling residents to “stay home, save lives” and added to the list of businesses that will be temporarily closed to stem the spread of COVID-19 in Oregon.
*All non-essential social and recreational gatherings of individuals are prohibited immediately regardless of size, if a distance of at least six feet between individuals cannot be maintained.
*It closes and prohibits shopping at specific categories of retail businesses for which close personal contact is difficult to avoid. That includes arcades, barber shops, hair salons, gyms and fitness studios, skating rinks, theaters, and yoga studios.
*Retail businesses also closed by the order include outdoor and indoor shopping malls and retail complexes.. Those individual businesses not subject to the measures may stay open.
*It requires businesses not closed by the order to implement social distancing policies in order to remain open and requires workplaces to implement teleworking and work-at-home policies where possible.
*Playgrounds, sports courts, and skate parks are closed. Those that remain open must adhere to strict social distancing guidelines.
*It outlines new guidelines on child care facilities, setting limits and rules on the number of children allowed in care.
Failure to comply will be considered an immediate danger to public health and subject to a Class C misdemeanor.
Brown said everyone is expected to stay home as much as possible. She said it will keep people safe from infection and ensures they don’t unknowingly infect others.

The order went into effect immediately and will remain in place until it is ended by Governor Brown.
