The Glide FFA Chapter recently attended the 94th Annual Oregon FFA State Convention, held in Redmond, March 17th through the 20th.

FFA Advisor Angela Chenoweth said thirteen-chapter members participated in leadership workshops, served on award recognition committees and attended convention sessions. Chenoweth said this is the first time since 2019 that the convention was held in-person.

From the Glide Chapter:

*Olivia McCurdy, a senior, received her State FFA Degree, which is the highest award a state FFA association can bestow on its members. McCurdy met the minimum requirements of earning and investing $1,500 and working at least 500 hours in her project.

*Jack Mornarich, also a senior, won the State FFA Star in Ag Placement as well as the State Veterinary Medicine Proficiency Award and a $500 H.H. Gibson Scholarship.

*Members Hanna Quimby and Evelyn Parkhurst also won honorable awards respectively in the Equine Science and Diversified Livestock Agricultural Proficiency awards.

Chenoweth said Glide FFA members also had the opportunity to tour Boatman Club Lambs ranching operation in Prineville as well as attend the Iron Lorenzen Bull Sale in Tumalo to learn more about commercial livestock production and agricultural sales and marketing on a national scale.

The Oregon FFA has more than 14,000 members in 114 chapters throughout the state.
