GOVERNOR WELCOMES FEMA PILOT COMMUNITY VACCINE CENTER

Governor Kate Brown has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has selected Jackson County as a site for a pilot Community Vaccination Center.

That will be the second site in the Pacific Northwest and the first one in Oregon. The CVC will begin operations April 21st, bringing an additional 1,000 vaccine doses per day to support Jackson, Klamath and Josephine counties.

Brown said, “We must reach Oregonians where they are, including those who may not have easy access to health care”. Brown said the CVC would bolster efforts to reach rural and agricultural communities, unsheltered populations, and those displaced by last year’s historic wildfires.

The release said the center is a joint effort from FEMA, Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Office of Emergency Management, Jackson County Health and Jackson County Emergency Services. The clinic will include a fixed site with drive-up and walk-up options, as well as mobile vaccination delivery. The vaccine doses will be supplied directly by the federal government.

The CVC will be at the Expo in Central Point and will operate for eight weeks.
