The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup has recommended the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, confirming that it is safe and effective.
A release from Oregon Governor Kate Brown’s Office said the workgroup provided its confirmation to the Governors of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington on Wednesday, making the J&J vaccine the third COVID-19 vaccine supported for those states. Shipments are expected this week.
The release said the workgroup is made up of nationally acclaimed scientists with expertise in immunization and public health. It will continue to evaluate other COVID-19 vaccines as they go through the federal process.
Governor Brown said, “After thorough scientific review by doctors and health experts, we now have three safe and effective vaccines available for Oregonians”.
