COUNTY GOP HEADQUARTERS HAS 6TH VANDALISM INCIDENT

The headquarters office of the Douglas County Republican Party was hit by another vandalism incident early Friday morning.

An alarm for breaking glass went off at 5:40 a.m. at the building on Southeast Jackson Street in downtown Roseburg. News Radio 1240 KQEN was on the scene a few minutes later. One large pain of glass was broken and graffiti had been spray painted on two signs and along the northside of the building.

Roseburg Police are investigating. County GOP Chair Valynn Currie told KQEN that video surveillance shows that a man arrived at 4:10 a.m. and began to paint the graffiti. Currie has been in contact with RPD as well as the U.S. Secret Service. Currie said she knows who the suspect is, and wants RPD to arrest him and charge him with a hate crime.

This was the 6th vandalism incident at the office. The last one took place on October 6th when eight windows were smashed. At that time, Currie told KQEN the damage this year had cost around $10,000. New security cameras had been ordered earlier this month.
