Roseburg Police jailed a man for having a stolen vehicle out of California, on Sunday morning.

An RPD report said just after 6:10 a.m. while patrolling near the intersection of Southeast Sheridan Street and Southeast Mosher Avenue, officers received an automated license plate reader notification on a stolen SUV which was nearby. Officers confirmed that the vehicle- a 2004 Nissan Armada – had been taken from Bakersfield. Officers conducted a high-risk stop and detained a 45-year-old Roseburg man without incident.

The driver claimed to own the vehicle, but the victim said he gave the vehicle to the man to repair it over a month ago, and it hadn’t been returned. The driver was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
