Two small natural cover fires burned Monday morning, approximately two miles southwest of Myrtle Creek.
Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said DFPA crews along with departments in Tri-City and Myrtle Creek responded to the fires located near Interstate Five milepost 106, shortly after 11:00 a.m.
Reed said crews quickly suppressed the fires, which were within 50 feet of each other, and were burning between the freeway and Aviation Drive.
A preliminary investigation determined that the cause of the I-5 Milepost 106 Fires was vehicle related.
