COUNTY GOVERNMENT CLOSES FACILITIES TO THE PUBLIC

March 24, 2020 10:15 a.m.
Following Monday’s “Stay Home, Save Lives” Executive Order by Oregon Governor Kate Brown, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners has issued a number of orders pertaining to County Government, their departments and their employees including the closure of many facilities to the public.
These facilities are now closed:
*The Douglas County Courthouse building. Staff will be working and can assist residents via phone, email and online. Check www.co.douglas.or.us for specific department information.
*The Douglas County Fairgrounds and RV Park are closed. Anyone that has future events or reservations will be notified to see whether to cancel the reservation or put it on hold for a future date.
*All County Parks and Campgrounds are closed. That includes closing the entrances, parking, restrooms and showers, playground areas, picnic areas and more. Anyone that has a campground reservation will be notified. The Parks Department will not be processing any new reservations or approving any special day-use permits during the closure.
*The Douglas County Juvenile Department has locked its doors and is restricting visits for outside visitors, except where required or necessary for all Juvenile programs. To communicate with a youth in one of the programs, call and arrange a phone or video conference with staff.
*The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office business lobby is closed until further notice, unless someone is directed by Douglas County Circuit Court to conduct court related business. In-person inmate visits continue to be suspended.
*The Records Division is suspending all public fingerprinting services. This includes pre-employment and background fingerprinting.
The Citizen Ride-Along program is suspended and concealed handgun licensing is on hold.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to provide law enforcement services 24/7, even during this emergency. Deputies will be taking additional precautions to reduce potential risk. That may include taking reports by telephone when circumstances allow.
