Applications are still being accepted for the Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy.
Sergeant Jeff Eichenbusch of Roseburg Police said the course is designed to provide citizens with an inside look at the world of law enforcement. He said most classes are taught by Roseburg PD officers, or by deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Classes are normally held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, but a few happen on Saturdays and one event is held on a Sunday.
Eichenbusch said over the 14 sessions, most aspects of law enforcement work are covered, giving those attending a better idea of what it involves. He said many times people begin the course believing police work is like what they see on television. Eichenbusch said that’s generally not the case.
The Academy starts April 2nd and runs through June 11th. Go to www.cityofroseburg.org to get an application.
Eichenbusch was on the Morning Conversation Wednesday on News Radio 1240 KQEN talking about the Academy. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com.
