The YMCA of Douglas County is opening registration for the new season of youth basketball.

A YMCA release said the YMCA Youth Basketball League focuses on developing fundamental basketball skills, building confidence, encouraging teamwork, and creating a positive environment where young athletes can learn and grow. With divisions designed for different ages and abilities, the program welcomes both first-time players and returning athletes.

The season runs January 11th through March 6th, featuring eight weeks of practices and seven weeks of Saturday morning games. Families can choose from Monday, Wednesday, or Friday practice options.

The release said four age divisions are available: Itty-Bitty for youth ages 3 to 4, Biddy which is for kids ages 5 to 6, Rookie for students in 1st and 2nd grade and Winners for 3rd and 4th grade students. Registration fees range from $65 to $95 for YMCA members and $85 to $115 for nonmembers. The Itty-Bitty division follows a shorter, Saturday-only schedule beginning January 23.

The YMCA is also seeking volunteer coaches.  Families can register online at: https://www.ymcaofdouglascounty.org/basketball.
