PUBLIC FORUM EXPLORING DOUGLAS COUNTY YOUTH HOMELESSNESS

November 3, 2026 3:40 a.m.

The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley is hosting a public forum about youth homelessness in Douglas County on Monday, November 16th at 6PM at the Roseburg Public Library.

An LWVUV release said a presentation will showcase relevant local data, strategies, and projects. The event will also include a panel discussion featuring local experts with an opportunity for questions from the public.

Thomas McGregor, Youth and Housing Project Manager at Peace at Home Advocacy Center, will lead the evening’s presentations and moderate the panel discussion. Since 2021, McGregor has been the co-chair of the Douglas County Homeless Youth Solutions Initiative, an initiative of the collaborative network called Creating Community Resilience.

The release said this forum will share details of the community’s newly published “Strategic Roadmap” to increase the shared ability to serve youth when experiencing housing challenges. Topics to be covered include recommended goals from the roadmap, review of related local data sets, and in-depth updates of local projects. The panel will feature K12 education personnel, crisis response specialists, and youth with lived experience of housing instability.

The event is coordinated as portion of local efforts to recognize National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.

This event is sponsored by Creating Community Resilience and will be held with the League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley. The forum free of charge.
