Maintenance to extend the life of approximately 2.5 miles of Roseburg streets is scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 25th weather permitting.
A release from the Roseburg Public Works Department said they have hired contractors to apply slurry seals, a combination of gravel aggregate and asphalt emulsifier used to preserve and protect underlying pavement, to various street sections. Work will be performed daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is expected to be completed by Thursday, August 27th.
To ensure crews can complete the work, vehicle owners must remove their vehicles from street sections scheduled for maintenance. Contractors will place notification signs three days prior to each road closure, and advance notice will be provided to every affected residence. Vehicles remaining on scheduled streets after the start date will be towed outside of the work area, at the owner’s expense.
The newly renovated Brown Park will be closed to vehicle access on Thursday, August 27th.
Roseburg Public Works Director Ryan Herinckx said, “Applying a slurry seal is a great way to keep good pavement in good condition and prevent expensive repairs in the future.”
Emergency responders will maintain complete access to all areas. All other service providers, including waste disposal and the U.S. Postal Service, have been notified of the schedules.
