RFD DISPATCHED TO THREE INCIDENTS IN UNDER FIFTEEN MINUTES

August 17, 2026 4:00 p.m.  

Saturday afternoon, Roseburg Fire Department crews were dispatched to three incidents in less than fifteen minutes.

An RFD post said at 3:51 p.m. firefighters were sent to a natural cover fire in the area of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Hewitt Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished the approximately half acre fire. Crews from The Douglas Forest Protective Association also responded to the fire. Assistance was also provided by Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and Roseburg Police Department.

At 3:57 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at a residential four-plex in the 900 block of West Stanton Street. Firefighters found light smoke showing from the HVAC system inside the structure. Firefighters isolated the power to the HVAC system to determine the source of the smoke and turned the system off before notifying the property owner. Assistance was provided by Sutherlin Fire Department, CDF&R, Avista Utilities and Pacific Power.

At 4:05 p.m., firefighters dispatched were dispatched to an airplane crash at the Roseburg Regional Airport. Firefighters arrived to find a single engine passenger plane in a field. The pilot was not injured and there was no fire present. No fluids were released due to the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the crash.

The post said the simultaneous incidents showed the effectiveness of interoperability between multiple agencies.
