Staff with the Umpqua National Forest remind recreationists that fireworks are prohibited on public lands.

A UNF post said as people make plans to celebrate the 4th of July, they should keep in mind that possessing, igniting, discharging, or using any kind of fireworks is prohibited on national forests and grasslands.

The Umpqua National Forest is at Moderate fire danger and Industrial Fire Precaution Level 1 remains in effect.
