A Carnes Road area home received extensive fire damage on Saturday night.
Battalion Chief Nick Wecks of Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said shortly after 7:00 p.m. crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire with lots of black smoke coming from the residence in the Green District. Wecks said initial crews arrived at the single-story residence, reported a working fire and established command. Firefighters made a quick initial attack, knocking down the fire and conducting a search of the residence within 15 minutes of the first engine’s arrival. No injuries were reported by the firefighters working on the scene.

Wecks said CDF&R responded to the incident with 4 pieces of fire equipment and 1 command unit, for a total of 11 paid and volunteer personnel. Due to the level of damage, crews could not determine the cause of the fire. CDF&R was assisted by Pacific Power, Avista and the American Red Cross.
