A thermal trough in the region means afternoon high temperatures of around ten degrees above normal through Sunday in the Umpqua Valley.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that highs in the low to mid 80’s are expected. Thursday’s high tied for the hottest day in 2026 to this point as the mercury reached 85 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport. It was also 85 degrees on May 3rd. Thursday’s high was a few degrees shy of the record high for May 21st, which is 88 degrees, set in 2001.
A cold front is still slated to move in on Monday, dropping high temperatures to between the mid 60’s and 70 degrees for a few days. The forecast shows a chance of rain from Monday afternoon through Wednesday.
