May 5, 2025 3:20 a.m.

Evergreen Family Medicine will have a community cancer conversation about prevention and screening this Thursday, May 8th.

The event will take place at Evergreen’s Harvard Avenue facility from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. along with an Oregon Health & Science University mobile unit. Many local health partners will be present to provide information and education on when to get cancer screens, lifestyle changes for cancer prevention, and being skin cancer aware.

According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer has now become the leading cause of cancer death in men under 50 and the second leading cause in women in the same age group. Attendees can take a walk through the OHSU Gut Hut, a giant colon that explains colon cancer!

Event partners include Camp Millennium, Douglas County Cancer Services, Aviva Health, Douglas Public Health and UHA.
