January 21, 2025 9:30 a.m.

Sutherlin Police jailed a man following an alleged elude incident early Monday.

An SPD report said just before 4:00 a.m. an officer received information that 28-year-old Brevin Ball was driving toward Sutherlin. The officer knew that Ball had warrants for his arrest. His vehicle was stopped on Highway 138 West near Recreation Lane for traffic violations.

Ball allegedly gave the officer a false name and when asked to exit the vehicle, the man shifted his SUV into drive and took off westbound on Highway 138 West. A pursuit of his vehicle was eventually terminated.

Ball was recognized later in the day as a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven back into Sutherlin. The vehicle was stopped, and Ball was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, two counts or reckless endangering, reckless driving, providing false information to a police officer and failure to carry and present an operator’s license. Ball was detained without bail.
