State Senator David Brock Smith of Port Orford claims he has been facing many months of “ridiculous campaign attacks from political individuals to assassinate his image”.

A release said through false and misleading information, these individuals have sought to sow discord and hate to seemingly advance their own political goals.

Attorney Jill Gibson has issued Cease and Desists to the individuals involved, and further stated, “Oregon has adopted the Corrupt Practices Act to protect elections and voters from the false information being broadcast by these individuals. The state has a strong interest in protecting voters from dishonestly and corruption while allowing free political expression.”

State Representative Virgle Osborne of Roseburg said, “I have not seen a single piece of evidence to back up the agitators’ claims levied against Brock Smith”. Osborne said, ‘These shameful attacks are dishonest and reflect poorly on the Republican Party”.

Brock Smith said, “In my 20 years of dedicated public service, I have never witnessed such blatantly false statements. The deceitful misinformation coming from my opponents and their supporters rivals that of the Democrats towards President Trump. I have, and will continue, to look at every piece of legislation through our conservative lens for our district in Douglas, Coos and Curry Counties”.

Brock Smith said, “We must stand up against these Democrat tactics of blatant misinformation and this is the first step”.

The Cease and Desist court filing names Rob Taylor of Bandon and Ben Edtl of Tualatin from the Republican Unity Caucus as the person’s accused.
