Roseburg Police jailed a man on 17 charges early Monday.
An RPD report said shortly after 2:00 a.m. 35-year old Jacob Ellis allegedly entered four vehicles in the 1800 block of Northeast Todd Street, prior to driving away in a 2023 model. That vehicle had a tracker on it and was located near the top of Northwest Kline Street. The victim notified officers that several credit cards as well as multiple valuable items, worth over $1,000, were stolen as well.
The credit cards were allegedly fraudulently used at Walmart while officers were out with the victim. Officers drove to the business and were able to find Ellis walking away from the area. He was reportedly found in possession of the victim’s credit cards.
Ellis was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a vehicle, three counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, first-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief, five counts each of fraudulent use of a credit card and computer crimes, and for identity theft. He was detained without bail.
