A boom truck burned in a fire on Highway 42 in Camas Valley on Saturday.

An update from the Camas Valley Rural Volunteer Fire District said at approximately 1:45 p.m. crews were dispatched to the fire near Milepost 57.

First responders found the truck fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately initiated fire suppression operations and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading into the surrounding wildland vegetation. No injuries were reported.

The probable cause of the fire was determined to be a fuel leak that allowed fuel to come into contact with the hot exhaust manifold, igniting the engine compartment and ultimately resulting in the vehicle becoming fully engulfed.

Camas Valley Fire responded with two engines and a tender, staffed by eight volunteer firefighters. Crews remained on the scene for approximately one hour conducting suppression, overhaul, and mop-up operations while assisting with traffic control to ensure the safety of motorists and emergency personnel.

Camas Valley Fire was assisted by Tenmile Rural Fire District, the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
