The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley will have a public candidates forum this Thursday night, October 8th, for those running for office in the City of Roseburg.

Candidates for mayor and city council will appear at the event from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Ford Room of the Roseburg Public Library.

A League release said eight of nine candidates have confirmed their attendance at the event, including three that are running for mayor. Discussion topics may include the benefits and risks of flock cameras, homeless camps, public safety, ICE activity in Douglas County and the city, sanctuary status, resolutions and ordinances, housing, working with a new city manager, and other local concerns.

Organizers said the forum offers community members a chance to learn where candidates stand, compare their approaches, and consider how they would represent individual wards and the city as a whole. Audience questions may be submitted in advance to: info@lwvuv.org
