The investigation into a fatal stabbing in Myrtle Creek remains ongoing, but detectives has released the identity of the teen who died in the recent incident.

A release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday, September 13th shortly before 10:45 p.m. 911 dispatchers received a report of a disturbance in which two teens were stabbed at a residence in the 100 block of Northeast Laurel Avenue. Deputies later learned that the stabbing occurred during a physical altercation.

Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said fire and EMS personnel responded along with law enforcement. O’Dell said despite lifesaving efforts, 17-year-old Robert Rosser of Riddle, was declared deceased at the scene.

O’Dell said the second individual, a 17-year-old male whose name continues to be withheld per Oregon law, was transported by ambulance with critical injuries. He was later transported to an out-of-area hospital to receive a higher level of care. His condition is currently listed as stable.

O’Dell said the 16-year-old individual who used the knife in the incident has been identified but his name continues to be withheld at this time.

The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Douglas County Major Crimes Team with assistance from the Myrtle Creek Police Department.
