Roseburg had a high temperature of 93 degrees on Wednesday, but high pressure is expected to weaken, leading to gradual cooling in the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the high was over 10 degrees above the normal afternoon high for this week in September. Thursday should see a high in the mid to upper 80’s, with Friday cooling to the mid 70’s. A low pressure system will bring highs down to the mid 60’s on Saturday with showers and possible thunderstorms around the region for one day only.

Forecasters said by early next week conditions should return to seasonal norms with highs in the low to mid 80’s.

Wednesday’s 93 degree high was shy of the record high for the date, which is 98 degrees, set in 1948.
