Roseburg Police jailed a man following a kidnapping incident on Sunday night.

An RPD report said at 7:00 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Northeast Winchester Street after a caller said there had been a violation of a no contact release agreement that was in place, prohibiting 48-year-old Joshua Hansen from contacting a victim.

Officers spoke with a witness on the scene who reportedly observed Hansen grab the victim and carry her inside the residence. While at the front door, prior to attempting contact, officers heard raised voices and a loud thump coming from inside the home. After knocking on the front door for some time without a response, officers forced entrance into the residence.

Officers contacted a clearly distraught victim who stated that Hansen was in the back bedroom. The suspect was found hiding under a blanket and was detained without incident. The victim stated that Hansen carried her into the residence against her will, then when she tried to yell for help, he covered her mouth, restricting her breathing. The victim was reportedly in substantial pain as a result of the incident.

Hansen was charged with violation of a release agreement, second-degree kidnapping, a felony count of strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and first-degree burglary. He was detained without bail.
