Monday is Labor Day and that means there are a number of closures.

Federal, state, county and city offices are not open. Regular mail will not be delivered. School is not in session. Banks and credit unions are closed. Buses with the Umpqua Public Transportation District will not operate. Professional offices are not open. Many retail stores will operate as normal, but some may be closed or have limited hours.

Labor Dady became an official U.S. federal holiday on June 28th in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed the legislation into law. Oregon became the first state to pass a law recognizing Labor Day on February 21st,1887.
