Sutherlin Police jail a man Monday, for an alleged menacing and disorderly conduct incident.
An SPD report said on August 4th at approximately 3:45 p.m. a witness said he saw what looked like a physical disturbance between a male and a female in Central Park in the 300 block of East Central Avenue. The witness stopped his vehicle and confronted the male. The suspect, later identified as an 18-year-old argued with the witness before the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and began walking towards the witness in an attempt to scare him.
The report said the witness reacted by showing the suspect that he also had a knife on his waist in a sheath. The two then disengaged and went their separate ways after a brief verbal exchange.
The suspect was contacted Monday at 3:50 p.m. and was taken into custody. He was charged with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. He was detained without bail.
