The Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority has announced a rate increase.
A message to customers said on May 13th the RUSA Board of Directors approved and $8 per Equivalent Dwelling Unit increase resulting in a new sewer service rate of $60 per EUD per month for standard residential commercial customers effective July 1st. Commercial customers will vary depending on the type of business. The new rate will be reflected on the August 1st, billing.
RUSA is asking customers to check their auto pay or bill pay programs to be sure it accounts for the increase in August.
According to RUSA, their aging sewer infrastructure requires ongoing maintenance and upgrades. The message said these investments ensure that the agency continues to provide efficient and environmentally responsible services.
To meet state and federal regulations, RUSA said it must invest in modernizing its facilities and systems. Improvements will enhance water quality, protect public health, and are required by regulations.
The message said that like any organization, RUSA is facing inflationary pressures and increased operational costs. The agency believes the rate adjustment will allow them to cover these expenses while maintaining service quality.
