Emigrant Fire continues to burn a month later

Sept. 25, 2025 11:19 a.m.

It’s been a month since a lightning storm sparked the Emigrant Fire south of Oakridge and north of Lemolo Lake in eastern Lane and Douglas Counties.

As of Thursday, the fire is burning on 32,772 acres and is 41% contained. A total of 530 personnel is staffing the fire.

A cold front overnight brought cooler temperatures, however smoke may continue to be visible as interior pockets of vegetation continue to burn, according to Incident Commander Justin Conrad.

Suppression repair efforts are continuing around the fire Thursday.

Leve 2 Public Use Restrictions remain in effect for the Umpqua National Forest. That limits the use of campfires, stoves, and generators and puts restrictions on smoking, driving and firewood cutting in the forest.
