Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are dealing with the Jim Creek Fire.
DFPA Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said Thursday night at approximately 7:50 p.m. firefighters from their agency along with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, and Glide Rural Fire Protection District responded to an estimated 10-to-15-acre logging slash and timber fire approximately 9 miles southeast of Glide, near Cavitt Creek Road.
Pope said upon arrival at the scene, a fast-moving, wind-driven fire was found. An aggressive initial attack was initiated, and additional resources were ordered. Umpqua National Forest, Bureau of Land Management Roseburg District, Coos Forest Protective Association, landowner resources and contract crews arrived throughout the night. Pope said they assisted in knocking down the forward spread and establishing a 100 percent trailed and plumbed line around the perimeter.
Crews will continue to strengthen lines and initiate mop-up. Smoke may be seen in the area as firefighters continue to work.
No structures were threatened by this fire. The cause of the Jim Creek Fire is under investigation.
