Umpqua Movement Arts Collaboration will produce their first production on the Umpqua Community College campus this weekend.

The non-profit will premiere “Constellations; Dances of the Zodiac” Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with a follow up afternoon matinee on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. It will take place at the Whipple Fine Arts Centerstage. Special guest performer Martita Santiago will be featured. She is the founder and artistic director of Flamingo Chico with her studio Eugene Flamenco Arts.

Tickets for the performances are $20 per person. Advance purchase is recommended via the WMAC website: www.umacroseburg.com. Attendees are encouraged to attend in costume to highlight their own zodiac sign. The event will feature a no-host bar with refreshments. All ages are welcome to attend.

UMAC is the new home of the Diva Dancers, a group of Douglas County community members who have been preparing for the performances for almost three months. Since 2020, the Diva Dancers have been organized to advance local movement arts by welcoming all adults to participate regardless of dance experience, age or gender in weekly classes and seasonal performances.

Umpqua Movement Arts was formally incorporated in the summer of 2023.
