Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man following an overnight pursuit incident early Tuesday that encompassed a wide area and many miles.

A DCSO report said at approximately 12:10 a.m. 19-year-old Zevin Alvarez allegedly fled from the Roseburg Police Department near Stewart Park on Northwest Stewart Parkway, on a motorcycle. Alvarez was located by a deputy near the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Lookingglass Road in the Green District.

Alvarez reportedly fled again going eastbound on Happy Valley Road, south on Carnes Road, and south on Roberts Creek Road where the pursuit was terminated. Alvarez then slowed down somewhat and continued out Roberts Creek Road to Dixonville Road, then proceeded out Hatfield Drive to Oregon 138E where he allegedly ran the red light at Diamond Lake Boulevard and Rifle Range Road in Roseburg. The pursuit was again terminated.

Alvarez was located by troopers with the Oregon State Police on Interstate 5 turning around at the Winchester exit, where he then proceeded southbound at speeds of over 120 miles per hour. The motorcyclist road passed a deputy at the Fairgrounds exit at mile post 123, and DCSO then re-initiated the pursuit. Alvarez fled southbound over Roberts Mountain before finally deciding to finally yield and stop at milepost 114.

The man was compliant from this point forward. Alvarez stated that he only fled because he didn’t have a motorcycle endorsement. He was charged with 3 counts each of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving, and reckless endangering. Alvarez was detained without bail.
