Covering coastal Douglas County:

A Winchester Bay man was jailed for an alleged menacing and criminal mischief incident on Thursday evening.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 5:30 p.m. the 45-year-old allegedly chased a victim with a three-foot fishing gaff on Breakwater Dock in Winchester Bay. Once on land the suspect reportedly used the gaff to break the driver’s window.

In fear, a victim jumped into the drivers’ seat so a second victim could get into the vehicle. The first victim’s vehicle allegedly sideswiped a 9-yard dumpster, causing the passenger window to break. The first victim suffered a possible seizure. He was cleared by medical personnel.

The suspect was charged with menacing and second-degree criminal mischief. He was detained without bail.
