A number of Flood Warnings are in place in Douglas County as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning for the South Umpqua River at Roseburg and the South Umpqua River near Winston. Minor flooding is forecast.
At Roseburg, the flood stage is 22.0 feet. The river is expected to crest at 23.1 feet on Sunday evening and fall below the flood stage early Monday morning. This crest compares to a previous crest of 22.2 feet on January 1st, of 1997.
Near Winston, the flood stage is 26.0 feet. The river is forecast to crest at 26.3 feet late Sunday evening. It will then fall below the flood stage early Monday morning. This crest compares to a previous crest of 26.6 feet on December 31st, 2005.
For Deer Creek at Roseburg, a Flood Warning is in effect through early Monday afternoon. Moderate flooding is occurring as of Sunday afternoon with major flooding forecast to take place. As of 4:00 p.m. Sunday, the maximum river stage was 15.9 feet which is a new record high. The river is forecast to peak near 16.2 feet Sunday evening then fall below flood stage early Monday.
A Flood Warning continues for the Umpqua River near Elkton. At 3:15 p.m., the river was at 25.1 feet. The river will rise above flood stage Sunday evening to 37.2 feet. It will then fall below the flood stage Monday morning. This crest compares to a previous crest of 37.4 feet on March 3. 1972.
A Flood Warning is in effect for Cow Creek near Riddle. At 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Cow Creek was 25.5 feet. Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. It will peak around 25.5 feet Sunday evening, then fall below flood stage early Monday. This crest compares to a previous crest of 26.2 feet on January 9, 1995.
