A Sutherlin man was jailed on multiple drug charges by the Oregon State Police on Thursday.
An OSP report said at approximately 12:30 p.m. a trooper stopped a sedan for traffic violations on Interstate Five southbound near the Rice Valley exit. During contact with the driver, a trooper developed probable cause to search the vehicle for drugs. The search reportedly revealed that the driver was in possession of multiple items satisfying the statutory requirements to meet a commercial drug offense. That allegedly included substantial quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin while possessing packaging materials, scales and United States currency.
60-year-old Kevin Haines was charged with unlawful manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and methadone, and tampering with physical evidence. Haines was detained without bail. He was released on Friday.
