A FEW STILL WITHOUT POWER FOLLOWING MONDAY STORMS

February 25, 2025 4:00 a.m.

A few are still without power as of early Tuesday morning, after storms hit the Umpqua Valley on Monday.

While not impacted like parts of northern Oregon, where a Tornado Warning and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning were issued Monday afternoon and wind gusts around 50 miles per hour were felt in both the afternoon and evening, Douglas County still had its own impacts.

Reports of downed trees began in both the Winston and Sutherlin areas by just past 12:00 p.m. By 12:40 p.m. Douglas Electric Cooperative reported over 600 meters without power in the Scottsburg and Elkton areas. Shortly after 1:00 p.m. over 4,100 customers had lost power between Pacific Power and Douglas Electric.

Police scanner reports of downed trees and lines on the ground continued to ramp up early in the afternoon. The National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the peak wind gust at the Roseburg Regional Airport came at 3:30 p.m. and measured 37 miles per hour. Winds slowly died down but did kick back up late in the evening for a time.

By 4:00 a.m. Tuesday Pacific Power was reporting no outages in the Roseburg area. Douglas Electric still had customers without power in the Loon Lake area.

News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN have reached out to both utilities seeking additional information on storm impacts.
