SUTHERLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT NAMES OFFICER OF THE YEAR

The Sutherlin Police Department has named Officer Jonathan Rausch as the 2024 Police Officer of the Year.

Each year the Roseburg Optimist Club holds the Respect for Law Banquet. As a result, SPD holds nominations within the police department for the Officer of the Year. This year, Officer Jonathan Rausch was selected by his peers to receive this honor and recognition.

Police Chief Troy Mills said Officer Rausch was nominated for his unwavering positive attitude and his willingness to take on difficult and challenging assignments. Mills said Officer Rausch remains calm and professional under pressure, even in life-and-death situations, and demonstrates a strong passion for training, teaching and supporting his colleagues.

In 2024, Officer Rausch responded to 1,064 calls for service, conducted 143 investigations, made 82 arrests, conducted 114 traffic stops and maintained a 92 percent case clearance rate.

Mills said throughout 2024, Officer Rausch exhibited outstanding leadership and embodied the values of modern public safety and policing. Mills said Officer Rausch is a true example of professionalism and dedication in 21st-century law enforcement.
