Thundering Water Upstream Healthcare has announced that their flagship program, the WOWtruck will start serving the county in February.

Executive Director Sarah Holborow said the local nonprofit has spent the last year preparing to drive a wellness movement. Holborow said the recreational experience, called the Thundering Water WOWtruck, is an 18-wheel truck that will transform into an activity and wellness education center.

A release said starting February 15th, the WOWtruck will travel around the county bringing an innovative experience to schools and neighborhoods, making recreation and nutrition fun and accessible for kids and families who need these essential resources the most.

Phase one of the WOWtruck will feature the first ever mobile bike pump track, a portable climbing experience, interactive games, sensory activities and nutrition demonstrations at every stop. All of this will be free of charge in the spirit of building stronger, healthier communities.

Holborow said the mobile approach to public health was developed by Thundering Water as a preventive and proactive approach to ward off the nationwide chronic disease crisis. Holborow said this upstream healthcare path will have residents of the region feeling empowered to take their health into their own hands with opportunities available to all at the WOWtruck.

Thundering Water’s mission it to:
*Get residents moving
*Get resident to increase consumption of whole plant foods
*Empower a community to reclaim ownership of their personal health
*Connect residents to Douglas County community partners that can lead to long-term health and wellness habits and lifestyles

The two-day WOWtruck launch event and ribbon cutting will take place in Roseburg on February 15th and 16th. Further details will come soon.
