On Monday, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team arrested a man who has allegedly been selling methamphetamine to individuals at a homeless camp.

DINT Commander Lieutenant Rick McArthur said in recent weeks detectives have been receiving information from multiple sources about an individual named Eric “Gimmick” Ray. McArthur said all of the information alleged that the 52-year-old Ray, was living in the camp at a location often referred to as “The Point”, near the 300 block of Northeast Winchester Street in Roseburg and that he was routinely selling user quantities of the drug to other homeless people in the area.

McArthur said on Monday, detectives contacted Ray at his tent regarding the alleged activity. In Ray’s tent detectives allegedly located methamphetamine and meth paraphernalia. Detectives found one bag of bulk meth, weighing approximately 24 grams or almost 1 ounce, and another bag that had 24 small individually wrapped bags totaling approximately 36.5 grams of suspected meth. McArthur said the individually wrapped bags appeared to have been pre-weighed and packaged for individual sale. Detectives also reportedly located a set of digital scales presumably used for weighing the substances.

Ray was charged with unlawful possession, delivery and manufacture of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $85,000.
