Oregon U.S. Senator Ron Wyden is reacting to the passing of former President Jimmy Carter on Sunday.
Wyden said, “President Carter embodied what it means to be a public servant in both elected office and in his personal life by working to make our country and world a more peaceful, humane and democratic place”. Wyden said, “May he now rest in peace with our gratitude for his service”.
Carter was elected in 1976 as the 39th president of the United States. He died at his home in Plains, Georgia at age 100. Carter entered hospice care in February of 2023.
