Sutherlin Police jailed a man early Tuesday, for an alleged burglary at Dairy Queen.

An SPD report said the 29-year-old allegedly stayed inside of the business in the 1600 block of West Central Avenue after employees had closed it and gone home. Shortly after 12:00 a.m. the suspect reportedly began to consume some of the store’s food.

In the process the man set off the restaurant’s motion-activated alarms, subsequently alerting law enforcement. A key holder arrived on the scene so SPD officers could gain access to the locked facility. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree theft. The man was detained without bail. He was released later in the day.
