The Barrel Ground and Wilson Creek fires were both in final mop-up as of Saturday evening.

Douglas Forest Protective Association Business Manager Jill Miller said the Barrel Ground Fire, northeast of Yoncalla, was initially reported late Wednesday morning and was mapped at 36 acres. Mop-up began on Thursday.

Miller said the Wilson Creek Fire was reported early Saturday morning. Crews with DFPA in conjunction with the Ten Mile and Camas Valley Rural Fire departments responded to the fire along Coos Bay Wagon Road in the area of Iverson Memorial Park. The fire was initially listed at 3 acres but was revised to 1.7 acres after GPS mapping. Mop-up began at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.

Miller said the cause of both fires is under investigation.
