A Sutherlin man has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, following a stabbing which took place Sunday night.

An SPD report said shortly after 10:30 p.m. officers responded to Center Market in the 200 block of West Central after a caller said a man had been stabbed. Captain Kurt Sorenson said officers found a 16-year-old male with stab wounds and determined that the suspect had fled on foot.

Sorenson said 30-year-old Cary Maurice Plummer was later established as the suspect. Plummer was later contacted at his home in Sutherlin and taken into custody.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. His condition has not been released.

Sorenson said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact SPD at 459-2211.
