A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 4:00 a.m. Monday to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday for mountain areas above 5,000 feet in parts of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said snow is expected above 5,000 feet. Total snow accumulation between 8 and 16 inches are forecast. Winds will gust as high as 50 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes the Southern Oregon Cascades, mainly north of Highway 140, including Crater Lake and highways 62, 230, 138 and 58.
Forecasters said travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Snowfall rates Monday morning could briefly reach 1 inch per hour, causing low visibility and hazardous driving. This is most likely between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
